Southport Sharks celebrated a night of triumph at the 79th Annual J.A Grogan and Emma Zielke Medal Awards held at The Gabba.
Steph O’Brien secured her place as a standout player, winning back-to-back Emma Zielke Medals as the 2024 QAFLW Best and Fairest, marking the third consecutive year a Sharks player has won this prestigious award. She also claimed the QAFLW Coaches Most Valuable Player award and was named Captain of the QAFLW Team of the Year.
The Sharks’ success didn’t stop there. Young star Dekota Baron was named the QAFLW Rising Star and won QAFLW Mark of the Year for her outstanding play in Round 1. Kaylee Kimber, Maddy Baldwin, Georja Davies, and Maddy Watt joined O’Brien in the QAFLW Team of the Year, further highlighting Southport’s dominant presence.
Peter Doherty, Southport’s Head Coach, was honoured as the QAFLW Coach of the Year, capping off an outstanding night for the club.
Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations, Jarrod Field, summed up the evening, saying, “It was a terrific night recognising the achievements of our players and coaches at league level.” Congratulations to the QAFLW staff and players on the incredible season.
