On his appointment, Clayton is honoured to be named President:

“The last 12 months have been a tumultuous period for the Club with the passing of our beloved President Doc McKenzie and the sudden and tragic death of our President Matthew Schneider. Both of their contributions to this great Club will be continued by the Board under my leadership and it is truly a great honour to follow in their footsteps. It is an honour and a privilege to have the appointment of President bestowed upon me and to lead this great Club in its next chapter.

The Club has a very exciting future ahead, with the continued success of our Senior Men’s and Women’s teams, our vast and growing Junior football program and our off-field commercial endeavours and execution of our Masterplan, providing many exciting opportunities for the Southport Sharks to cement itself as a leader in the development and promotion of Australian Rules Football in South East Queensland and an integral partner of the Gold Coast Community.

I would like to acknowledge the support of my fellow Directors and the senior Management team, led by our CEO, Dean Bowtell, whom we proudly boast are the best in our industry and integral to the success that the Southport Sharks have enjoyed and our future plans.”
