2024 Southport Sharks QAFLW Premiership Player Tayla Gregory has been signed by the Gold Coast Suns ahead of the 2025 AFLW Season.

2024 Southport Sharks QAFLW Premiership Player Tayla Gregory has been signed by the Gold Coast Suns ahead of the 2025 AFLW Season.

Gregory joined the Sharks ahead of their first season in the QAFLW, from the Cardiff Hawks who play in the Hunter Central Coast Australian Football League.

In 2022, Gregory played in Southport’s first ever QAFLW Seniors game which was against Yeronga.

Gregory etched her name in history by kicking the Sharks first goal in the QAFLW Seniors.

She went on to be a significant contributor in the Sharks’ QAFLW Reserves Premiership Team that year.

In 2023, she became a main stay in the senior team being awarded the QAFLW Trademark Award.

Gregory was named part of Southport’s leadership group in 2024 and played in the Queensland State Team, as well as playing in the Sharks first QAFLW Senior Premiership Team.

This year, Gregory remained in the leadership group and played in the Queensland State team again and won best on ground.

On top of that For the past two seasons Gregory has also been a train-on for the Suns and this week the 28-year-old was informed that she was officially being added to their list.

Southport Sharks Assistant Football Manager David Ashkar said, “It’s a great story. We are all so happy for her and I know they are getting a good player and an even better person.”

“She has worked really hard for this. Tayla’s attitude and work ethic is a credit to her, and this is just the start for her in what is hopefully a long AFLW career.”

“We want to help everyone in our program get to where they want to get to. Tayla is the 15th player to get signed by an AFLW club since the introduction of our senior women’s program in 2020.”

Gold Coast’s AFLW campaign gets underway in Perth on Thursday, August 14 against the West Coast Eagles.
