Sharks maintain control with another strong Reserves performance

Southport has continued its impressive run in the QAFLW Reserves competition, delivering another convincing result with a win over Wilston Grange.

The Sharks recorded a 12.11 (83) to 1.0 (6) victory, building momentum across the afternoon before pulling clear in the second half.

Southport made an assertive start, generating early opportunities and applying consistent pressure to open up a 13-point lead at the first break while keeping the opposition scoreless.

The second term saw the Sharks build on that foundation, linking up effectively and finding greater reward on the scoreboard. Their control around the contest allowed them to extend the margin to 35 points by half time.

After the main break, Southport continued to dictate play, steadily increasing its advantage through sustained effort across all lines. The side’s ability to win territory and maintain forward pressure ensured the lead continued to grow heading into the final quarter.

The Sharks finished strongly, adding further scoreboard impact to cap off another well-rounded performance, while restricting Wilston Grange to a solitary late goal.

Shelby Harrison was influential throughout the contest, with Taneille Krzyska providing strong support in the ruck. Jesica Pang and Serina Balanda were also key contributors, while Carlee Smith and Georgia Hunt rounded out a group of consistent performers.

In front of goal, Bonnie Brown and Kaylea Kobzan each finished with three majors, while debutant Ella Gordon, Georgia Hunt and Georgia Wakefield added two goals apiece in a spread attacking effort.
