Seniors

In the Seniors, the Sharks defeated the Hornets by 11 points.

It was the most the undefeated Sharks have been challenged this year, but they did enough to win 5.8 (38) to 4.3 (27).

The last quarter was very tense as the Hornets were able to cut the ten-point three quarter time margin to five points, eight minutes into the last quarter.

The Sharks steadied though a few minutes later with a Rianna Schipp goal from 50 metres out, which ended up being the last goal of the game.

After the game, Southport Coach Peter Doherty said, “It was a very pleasing win, and it gets you excited for finals footy because that was a finals-like game.”

“Aspley is a very good football team, and I am very proud of the girls that they were able to withstand the pressure they put us under.”

This week, the Seniors play Bond University at Fankhauser Reserve on Saturday at 3pm.
