The Southport Sharks would like to congratulate Jacob Dawson, Brayden Crossley and Jesse Joyce for reaching their 50th games for the club this weekend against Collingwood.
The three former Gold Coast Suns players have played a pivotal role in the Sharks midfield in Southport’s first three years in the VFL.
Southport Coach Steve Daniel said, “What they have brought to the club both on and off the field has been terrific.”
“They have bought into the history and prestige of being a Southport Sharks player and have led the way for the rest of our playing group.”
“Week in and week out, they have been consistent performers and have been the engine room for us in the middle.”
Aside from playing a huge role in making last year’s VFL Grand Final, each of them have achieved a lot individually in their time at Southport.
Dawson has won the last two Doc Mackenzie Medals (Southport Best & Fairest) and has been co-captain of the club for the past two seasons. He also won the VFL Coaches MVP award last year and was named in the VFL team of the year.
Crossley, whose father Troy is a Southport Hall of Famer, won the Shark’s 2022 Coaches Award and was named Vice-Captain in 2023.
Joyce, was Southport’s runner-up best and fairest in 2021, won the John Gonard Trademark Award last year and joined the leadership group this year.
Southport’s game against Collingwood will be played at the AIA Centre in Melbourne at 12:05pm on Saturday the 19th of August, and can be watched live and free via afl.com.au and the AFL Live App.
