The Southport Sharks would like to thank QAFLW Senior Coach Matthew Lappin for his service to the club, as Matthew has decided not to continue in his coaching role in 2026.
Matthew led the team to the club’s second QAFLW Senior Premiership and was named 2025 QAFLW Coach of the Year.
Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations Jarrod Field said, “It was great to have Matthew back at the Sharks after two seasons away from the club.”
“His knowledge of the game is exceptional and without a doubt has taken our women’s football program forward with the attacking game style he implemented.”
“Although, we would have loved to have seen Matthew continue in his role, we understand and accept his decision to move on.”
“We wish Matthew and his family all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for everything he has done for this football club.”
