Southport has made the QAFLW Grand Final in their maiden season in the competition.

The Southport Sharks’ undefeated start in their inaugural season in the QAFLW Seniors continued after they beat the Aspley Hornets by 60 points on the weekend.

Southport travelled to Brisbane on Saturday to take on the Aspley Hornets at Graham Road in Round 10 of the QAFLW. 

Southport and Port Melbourne finished level in Round 7, drawing 10.12 (72) each. The Sharks rallied from 30 points down at half-time, with Hugh Dixon’s late goals helping secure two points.

Southport defeated Werribee in last year’s Grand Final re-match by 18 points on Saturday Afternoon at Fankhauser Reserve.

Southport remain undefeated in the QAFLW Seniors with a 31 point win over Aspley, who were undefeated going into the game.

The AFL has announced the 2021 VFL season will begin on Saturday, 17 April, with the Grand Final to be held on the weekend starting 18 September.
