Jacob Dawson and Boyd Woodcock make 2023 VFL Team of the Year

The Southport Sharks would like to congratulate Jacob Dawson and Boyd Woodcock for making the 2023 VFL Team of the Year which was announced at the VFL/VFLW Awards Night on Monday Night at the Crown Palladium.

The Southport Sharks would like to congratulate Jacob Dawson and Boyd Woodcock for making the 2023 VFL Team of the Year which was announced at the VFL/VFLW Awards Night on Monday Night at the Crown Palladium.

It is third year in a row for Dawson and the second year in a row that Woodcock has made the VFL Team of the Year.

Dawson averaged 33 disposals, ten clearances and six tackles per game in 2023, and Woodcock averaged 30 disposals, six marks and one goal per game in 2023.

In the J.J Liston Trophy (VFL Best & Fairest) count, Boyd Woodcock finished second with 24 votes, Dawson finished 9th with 15 votes and in the VFL Coaches MVP Dawson finished second with 92 votes and Woodcock finished equal fifth with 77 votes.

Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations Jarrod Field said, “Jacob and Boyd have still had terrific years and very much deserved to be in the team of the year.”
