The Hawks, who are third on the 2023 VFL Ladder, won by a convincing 39 points.

The first and third quarters were even, but the Hawks piled on the damage in the second and fourth quarter to finish 11.18 (84) to 6.9 (45) victors.

Southport Coach Steve Daniel said, “Box Hill is a quality club, and they were too good for us on the weekend.”

“They were quick and used the ball well, and unfortunately, we couldn’t match it with them.”

Brayden Crossley was dominant in the ruck with 41 hit outs, 20 disposals, 11 tackles and five clearances.

Young guns Zach Molloy, Jack Sexton and Jed Foggo (3 goals) were also shining lights in the loss.

The Sharks have their first bye this week, and next week play Casey in a Grand Final re-match at Fankhauser Reserve on Saturday 3rd of June at 12:05pm.

Daniel said, “The bye has come at a good time. It’s been a tough nine weeks, and we will use the opportunity to rest and reset before getting into the second half of the season.”
