The Southport Sharks are pleased to announce their QAFLW Leadership Group for 2023.
After a successful 2022 season, Jess Malouf will become the sole QAFLW Captain following the retirement of her co-captain Ashlee Flick.
Selina Priest, the reigning league best fairest, and midfielder Rianna Schipp will be Vice-Captains.
Alessia Smythe has been elevated into the Leadership Group after playing a significant role in the QAFLW Reserves premiership win last year.
In addition, Lateesha Jeffrey who is new to the club this year from Bond University has been recognised for her efforts in the pre-season with a position in the Leadership Group.
This year sees the introduction of the Emerging Leader which recognises a player who is under the age of 22 to be part of the Leadership Group.
This position has been awarded to Casey Wynne who is a former Sharks Junior and played in the QAFLW Seniors Grand Final.
Southport’s Assistant Manager of Football Operations David Ashkar said, “It is a terrific Leadership Group. They all offer unique perspectives, and they have the respect of their teammates and the club.”
“Culture plays a massive role in the success of the club, it is their role to drive the standards which is a big responsibility and one I know they can deliver on.”
