Southport defeated Aspley by 62 points, winning 12.17 (89) to 4.3 (27).
 
The Hornets kicked the first goal of the game, before the Sharks steadied with three first quarter goals to lead by 15 points at the first change.
 
Southport kept the momentum going in the second term, kicking seven unanswered goals to lead by 49 points at half time.
 
Aspley cut the margin to 46 points at three quarter time, after kicking the only goal of the third quarter.
 
The fourth term had a lot more scoring, as the Sharks kicked four majors to the Hornets two.
 
Olvia Meagher was the star of the game, kicking six goals in her third game for the Sharks.
 
Steph O’Brien (35 disposals and 21 hit outs) and Maddy Watt (27 disposals and seven tackles) were also their dominant selves.
 
Tayla Gregory and Georgia Breward also did well in their first senior games back from injury.
 
After the game Southport Coach Matthew Lappin said, “It was another great team performance.”
 
“I was really pleased with the girl’s effort across the board and their ability to withstand Aspley’s pressure.”
 
Next week, Southport travel to Bond University on Saturday 3 May to take on the Bull Sharks at 4:45pm

Keely Whittaker and Holly Wall continued their good form, Eliza Hand was everywhere, and 15-year-old Grace Cooper showed her immense potential in her second game for the Reserves.
 
After the game Southport Coach Shannon Tate said, “We knew Aspley would bring a lot of pressure at the contest.”
 
“We wanted to withstand that, then play the way we want to play and I think we did that well.”
 
“I also thought the girls did a great job of supporting each other and defending well, keeping Aspley scoreless.”
 
Next week, Southport travel to Bond University on Saturday 3 May to take on the Bull Sharks at 6:45pm.
