The Southport Sharks have five players that were named in the 2025 QAFLW Team of the Year, plus Coach Matthew Lappin was named Coach of the Year.

The Southport Sharks have five players that were named in the 2025 QAFLW Team of the Year, plus Coach Matthew Lappin was named Coach of the Year.

Kierra Zerafa, Tayla Gregory, Maddy Watt, Olivia Meagher and Steph O’Brien were all named in the team which was announced at the QAFL/QAFLW Awards at the Gabba on Sunday Night.

Steph O’Brien also came second in the Emma Zielke Medal (QAFLW Best & Fairest), after winning it the last two seasons.

Southport Sharks Assistant Manager – Football Operations David Ashkar said, “We are really proud of our whole squad and what they have achieved this year.”

“Every single player who has been part of our program has worked hard and deserve all the accolades they receive.”

“For Kierra, Tayla, Maddy, Olivia and Steph to be named in the team of the year is a great recognition for critical roles they played in helping us go back-to-back.”

“It was also good to see Matt Lappin recognised as Coach of the Year, for the exciting way he got us playing this year.”

“2025 will go down as a very successful year for the Southport Sharks QAFLW Program, and we look forward to next season.”
