The Sharks got off to a great start, scoring four goals in the first ten minutes of the match which put the previously undefeated Hornets on the back foot.

Just as the Hornets were getting back into the game, the Sharks responded with back-to-back goals to lead by 31 points at halftime.

Southport extended their lead early in the third quarter to 37 points before the Hornets kicked two goals in a row just before three quarter time.

In the last quarter, the Sharks kicked the only goal to win their seventh game in a row.

Kierra Zerafa (27 disposals), Emma Suckling (16 disposals), Maddy Watt (six tackles), and Georja Davies (30 hitouts) led the way for the Sharks.

After the game, Southport Coach Peter Doherty said, “I’m really proud of the girls. It was a great win against a team who was undefeated coming into the game.”

“It gives us great belief that our best is good enough to beat anyone in the competition. The challenge is now about being able to do it in finals.”
