Southport Sharks would like to thank Corey Gillie for his contribution to the Club, as he steps down from his role as QAFLW Senior Coach due to personal circumstances.
Gillie has a long association with Southport, having been involved in coaching across the Club’s junior and senior programs for the past 15 years.
After three seasons as an Assistant Coach with the QAFLW Seniors, including two premiership campaigns, Gillie was appointed Senior Coach ahead of the 2026 season.
Southport Sharks Assistant Manager – Football Operations, David Ashkar, acknowledged Gillie’s contribution to the program.
“Corey has been a committed club person over a long period of time and has made a significant contribution to football at Southport,” Ashkar said.
“He has always been professional and prepared in his approach to coaching and has played an important role in our QAFLW program over the past four seasons.”
“Corey was part of two premierships as an assistant coach and, this season as Senior Coach, led the team to our fourth consecutive minor premiership and third straight Grand Final appearance.”
“We thank Corey for the time and commitment he has given to the program and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
