The Southport Sharks are pleased to announce a two-year partnership with Collingwood’s AFLW program.
The partnership will provide Collingwood’s AFLW athletes with access to Southport’s high-performance training facility whilst enabling the Club to assist in developing Southport to become one of Queensland’s leading women’s football organisations.
The partnership will officially kick off this week with the Magpies’ AFLW program heading to Southport for the side’s pre-season camp.
Collingwood’s General Manager of Women’s Football Jess Burger said, “This is an exciting opportunity for Collingwood and Southport to come together.”
“Southport’s facilities are exceptional and we’re looking forward to using their spaces and connecting with the club this week during our pre-season camp.”
“This partnership will also form a key role in supporting the women’s football pathway, particularly in Queensland, from grassroots level to the elite, high-performing space.”
Southport’s General Manager of Football Operations, Jarrod Field said, “We are very excited to be hosting Collingwood’s AFLW camp here at the Southport Sharks, and I am sure the Magpies will enjoy our facilities.”
“Since 1961, our objective has been to support the growth of AFL on the Gold Coast, and this is a great opportunity to showcase the sport, especially in the women’s football space.”
Collingwood’s AFLW program will travel to the Gold Coast for the side’s pre-season camp on Thursday, June 27th to Saturday, June 29th.
